There are, I suppose, a lot of possible answers to this idea. It's something I've thought about in the past. Fact is, it just doesn't all add up to anything except the Bible telling us the truth about who and what God is. The idea of an evil god being behind the universe and all that is in it in contradicted by the very existence of concepts of good and mercy and love. What C.S. Lewis referred to as a "sense of ought" (that there are standards we ought to live up to in some way) is a strong testimony within human beings that there is a real standard of good to aspire to. Experience tells us that evil beings (Adolf Hitlers for example) produce evil things, that they are innately suspicious and cruel, that their idea of good is twisted in such a way that cruelty is clearly visible. It is beyond reason that an evil and twisted being could have come up with the idea of redemption even as a cosmic joke. The capacity to bring good concepts (compassion, love, sacrifice, giving) from an evil heart has not been demonstrated.
