Selling hamburgers, and other things Posted by caf - November 21, 2003 at 4:38:37pm 1280x1024x32 - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 |

A fast food restaurant chain has been running a slob ad campaign for many months now, apparently trying to appeal to the perceived lowest common denominator in young men. Recently they've moved on to a sort of slob sex sales approach, first with a contorting young woman toting a burger, and more recently with Hugh Hefner of Playboy as their new mascot, touting the pleasures of variety. The article linked below makes several points worthy of notice regarding the cultural damage that has been done by the general acceptance of the "playboy culture" Hefner markets and exploits, though it doesn't deal with the latest burger promotions. Rather, the burger promotions lend strength to the credibility of the author's observations about the cultural impact of Hefner and company.
