(note: Before becoming a preacher of the gospel Roger was a captain in the special forces. With the current troubles, there is some possibility he might be recalled to active duty. We pray that he will be able to continue to devote his energies to the battle for the gospel, and not a civil conflict. CFry) Subject: Philippine situation 2 Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 19:27:50 +0800 From: "Roger M. Wanasen" My beloved brethren in Christ, God is our Creator and Savior. Our situation here is getting worst, we were bothered physically but not spiritually. Let God do His business! I know He is watching us on how we deal with these trials, hardship and problems as a member of His family. And I thanked God to all of you, you are truly a encouragement to us to keep on going. Your good heart in helping the ministry here in the Philippines is commendable. Well, the situation here is getting worst. In Mindanao the rebel Muslim declared a "holy war" which means a more battle with a suicide "human bomb". Many soldiers and Filipino Muslim were already killed and their families were left behind of sorrow. There are some civilian were also killed caught by crossfire and many of them losses their houses including their animals. Some brethren in South Cotabato, Tacurong and Davao was also in these kind of situation. Please remember them in your prayer.
The two typhoons "Ditang and Edeng" was out in the Philippine territory but they destroyed many houses and crops and killed 39 peoples. The dump site here in Manila located in Payatas collapsed yesterday and there are 132 people were killed and the rescue operation still going on. We have a new typhoon in the name of "Gloring" and we expect that it creates a new damages to the Filipino. In Pampanga all their houses were under water. Our brethren in Macabebe force to vacate their homes due to the water, approximately 5 to 6 feet deep. On Sunday my family and some brethren here in Cubao are planning to visit them and distribute coffee, sugar, rice and medicine.I received the money you sent the other day and it is timely my brother since our brethren from different places were in needs because of the typhoons. I use most of my support for benevolence and I am happy doing it. It is a joy in my heart when I see my brethren with a big smile inspite of their suffering. Please remember them in your prayer and thank you for your unending support and love here in our country. Till here and the only thing that we can say, "we love you so much & we will continue serving Him"! Love and prayer, Roger, Doris and family
