James is certainly talking about God's law, but there is a principle of respect for law, and the idea of a slippery slope, that need to be remembered. Choosing which laws we obey suggests that we are above the law (James 4:11b When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. NIV) It's easy to be careless about obeying laws that are inconvenient or not easily enforced, but where does one stop, and why?
