Ah, those unfortunate hoaxes Posted by CFry - May 08, 2000 at 11:10:18pm 1024x768x24 - Mozilla/4.72 [en] (Win98; I) |

There are a number of hoaxes that just won't die, in fact more all the time. Our local paper carried one in the religion section this Saturday, a bogus report that there is scientific evidence for a literal hell at the center of the earth. It's one of the sillier hoaxes that won't die, I think I first heard it in the '80s. Such foolishness, reported as true by credulous disciples, only serves to undermine the value of genuine evidence for the veracity of the Bible, of which there is much. We who accept the Bible as true should be eager to support it before the whole world, but should be careful to confirm that our support is based on truth, not fantasy, deception, or wishful thinking.
