I don't agree with every point or every example presented by F. LaGard Smith in the speech above, but he raises a number of issues worth thinking about, and brings up some of the problems challenging many churches today. The church is always under pressure to enculturate, to be absorbed into the surrounding culture by doing things and thinking like the world-view that predominates. It is hard to take God's perspecitve on what really matters, and trust the unencumbered simplicity and directness of doing things his way, rather than focusing on methodologies or programs or people with exciting talent, but God has always asked for our heart, first and foremost.
