I appreciate the concern, the reasoning, and the sentiments expressed by author/preacher David Wilkerson in a September 20 article about "the message" of the horrible events of September 11 (see link below). As expressed by many others, there is certainly a need for justice, the U.S. government has a responsibility to pursue it and endeavor to overcome evil doers. The government should do its utmost to protect its citizens and guests. There is a need for pulling together in a crisis, repairing damage, securing peace and security, and healing wounds. There is also a need to reject unrighteous attitudes, appetites, and behaviors that flourish in the American marketplace, American education, American entertainment, American science, and American politics. This need is harder to believe in for most people, and harder to come to grips with. If repentance (not just a temporary postponement of wickedness but a rejection of it) can't prevail over pride, things will continue to grow worse.
