At least we can be pretty sure it's not 42. I like seven, it's a good number. In fact, some have looked at the sum of the numbers available in the Biblical genealogies and chronologies (about 6000 years) and based on the idea of a week (seven days) plus the scripture that has nothing to do with statements about measuring time and everything to do God's nature and his relationship to creation (with God one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day) and predicted amazing things for the 7th thousand years.

But anyway, I think a related question is, how old was Adam on the day that he was created (I do read and accept Genesis as straightforward history)?
