1 Tim 1:15-17 15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. NIV1 Tim 3:1 3:1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. NIV 2 Tim 2:11-13 11Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; 12if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; 13if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself. NIV What is truly trustworthy? Jesus and his power to save us. On Jesus alone does all hope rest. The middle passage is referencing to the way we as christians should live, to desire to be an overseer. An overseer is to live the life that all christians can take as an example for their own lives. Jesus came to save each of us, as individuals, and collectively. His power extends as large as the world and as particular as a personality. He invites each of us to accept him and become the people God knows we are capable of being, and even if we sometimes falter, we know that he will be right there beside us to help us stand. No matter who we are, or what we have done, if we accept Jesus into our life, are baptized and make ourselves better people, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, we can know that heaven awaits us.
