: 'Now, essay, "no claim of literal truth"?' : What I said was (go back and read it again) that the Writings were : a COMBINATION of the factual and the fictitious, with no claim of : total literal truth. I have no reason to doubt that Boaz married : Ruth, nor have I any reason to doubt, as you do, that the events : in Tobit took place just because they were recorded a few years later. Umm, that word "total" wasn't in your post, which I left intact word for word when I responded in #740. You didn't say, "no claim of total literal truth." You said, "no claim of literal truth" was ever made about "the Writings" until "Fundamentalist Christians" began to do so. Tobit of course never made it into the Writings, and wasn't part of this discussion. Your assertion that "Fundamentalist Christians" invented the idea of "literal truth" in "the Writings" was wrong, but consistent with your stated perspective on the Bible and people who believe it.
