The only solution I can think of where we would each have a choice would be a removal of children from their parent upon birth. Adam and Eve could not have helped but to pass on the information through actions, words, and morales. Unless their children were removed from them they would have been exposed to it. The information given by eating the fruit was impossible not to pass on. Example is in Adam and Eve realizing they were naked after eating the fruit. What parent doesn't try to teach there child about the indecency of being naked. Some things are unable to be reasonalbly reversed or worked around.

As to the punishment the knowledge they recieved made them different people unfit to live in the garden the only place set up for man to live simply. Just as babies born with problems from smoking or other drug adictions are unfit to live in the normal world. They can eventualy enter into society but their exile was not a pushiment. In the same way our exile is not a pushiment and we can enter into God's presence once again.
