I've always heard that Al Capone funded more soup lines than any other organization of his day... Just as faith without acts is worthless (James 2, yeah, that's what I read this morning), so I would think acts without faith would be worthless. If you don't even have enough faith to do an exceedingly simple ritual as was commanded not only by the apostles, but by Jesus, and even John the Baptist... then I don't see how God would want someone so rebeloius in Heaven, which is his special plae for people who do what he says, or who are like minded. Yes David was sometimes an awful sinner, as are we all, but he always placed himself at God's mercy doing whatever God asked or told him to do. That's what seperates the Trying To Do Good, from the Saved, niceness isn't gonna get you into heaven, you've got to follow the strictures that've been placed. It's not like God has said you've got to do anything super crazy... pretty much just vocally admitting he is who he is, and washing yourself. Even Jesus was baptized, and if there was anyone who could've forgone that distinction I think he would be the man. Heaven isn't where the good go, it's where God's elect go. Just because God's plans are fulfilled through you doesn't make you one of his, he's used evil men to do his works, but I doubt you're going to be seeing them out of Hell when time's up.
