It is interesting that the word "punishment" is not actually used in Genesis, but I feel it still applies. The word dissapointment is never used either, but I imagine it has applies to how God felt about Adam and Eve disobeying him. God tells the woman and man they shall now toil until their deaths, this does not seem like a punishment to you? And it does still not really explain why were not given the choice to eat of the tree of knowledge in the first place. God could have easily set up that scenario instead of us being cursed with the knowledge before our birth. And some may not agree that it is a curse, but it is obviously a flaw of some sort because God never intended man to have the information in the first place.
